Stuck on Praise – Sermon Recap

Praise is a great thing especially when you get the things you want. Praise is sweet when the mind is spirited.

What are the times that praise comes naturally?

  • When you get a breakthrough
  • When the expectations on a desire returns positive
  • When an outcome surpasses your expectations
  • Being praised for delivering well or for doing good.

But you know we don’t always experience good times. We have downtimes too. God enjoins us to be praiseful irrespective of our situation.

Philippians 4:4 says “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say it, rejoice“. What this means is that you don’t just rejoice, have a focus on your rejoicing. Rather turn the focus of your rejoicing to God. Sing about God and His great works. Be drunk in the awesomeness of God. Irrespective of what you are, where you are, how you are feeling – rejoice.

Praising is Difficult

Praise is a difficult thing to do. When you don’t feel like praising, don’t get stuck – just praise. One of the ways you can get over such is to build your praise spirit. Most of the writings in the book of Psalms were sung and written in times of uncertainty. But one thing we would always see is that it ends with thanksgiving and a heart of gratitude to God. Learn to glorify God despite your situation.

The Psalmist in Psalm 22:3 says that God inhabits the praises of His people. Another version says he is enthroned! That means he manifests when you praise. He is glorified when you rejoice in Him. God is lifted when you praise. He works wonders when you are praiseful.

So you shouldn’t let a situation that is smaller to God hinder your praise because His wonders to perform flow through your exultation.
